Our clients, whether they are statutory or non-statutory, want to understand how to set up and operate social car schemes successfully. RATC has considerable experience of all aspects of social car schemes that use volunteers driving their own cars.
Working with voluneer bureaux in Kent, we researched, wrote, and designed Giving Kent A Lift, a short introduction to how Kent's volunteer car drivers provide nearly half a million journeys a year, and the benefits of this to the local social and health care economy.
For Rydeale Voluntary Action, we prepared the business plan and organisational development that lead to the merger of RVA's voluntary car scheme, minibus brokerage, and wheels to work scheme. The result is RYECAT, an independent community transport provider for Malton and the surrounding area.
In 1999, RATC managed the production and edited the Community Transport Association's guide Community Car Schemes - organised lift giving using voluntary drivers and their cars [ISBN 0-9522439-9-7].
